Brown Bag Lunch Training Series: Epilepsy 101 and Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders Resource Guide

Please join Family Voices of California and Epilepsy Foundation Northern California for an interactive Webinar for Family, Youth and their Providers too!  

SECTION ONE:
Epilepsy 101: Essential skills to help families identify Epilepsy. Basics – symptoms to look for, how it is diagnosed, seizure triggers, existing treatment options, co-morbidities, and proper first aid.

SECTION TWO:
Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders: A Resource Guide for Parents. Participants will be introduced to an accessible guide, written with parents in mind, for giving families some very basic information, including an introduction to epilepsy and seizure disorders, a description of pediatric epilepsy conditions and treatments, tools for reporting observations to medical professionals, and additional resources. Strategies for using this guide will be discussed.

On March 10, 2009 Family Voices of California held its seventh statewide Health Summit, bringing together families, advocates, state agency representatives, health policy advocates, legislative representatives, providers and insurers.  The Summit focused on identifying budget issues in California significantly affecting children with special health care needs and developing strategies to ensure that families in California are able to access family-centered, affordable care.  man in plane
