CA Children’s Services and the Whole Child Model

If your child is covered by both California Children’s Services (CCS) and has full-scope Medi-Cal, their CCS benefits will be administered differently under the Whole Child Model if you live in one of the following 21 Whole Child Model Counties:
Phase I (July 1, 2018): Merced, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, San Mateo
Phase II (January 1, 2019): Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Marin, Mendocino, Modoc, Napa, Siskiyou, Shasta, Solano, Sonoma, Trinity, Yolo
Phase III (July 1, 2019): Orange
This means that your Medi-Cal managed care plan will now authorize and pay for services related to your child’s CCS -qualifying condition. This includes things like appointments, services, and treatments with your child’s specialists, prescription medications, and durable medical equipment (DME).
