Family Voices of California was proud to partner in the inaugural DisCo at the Capitol, a landmark event that united children, parents, advocates, and consumers in a collaborative effort to advocate for individuals with special healthcare needs and intellectual disabilities. This vibrant gathering provided an invaluable opportunity for attendees to engage directly with their legislators, ensuring that their voices and concerns were heard at the highest levels of government. Our Project Leadership graduates played a pivotal role, sharing their personal stories with lawmakers with commendable eloquence and impact.
We are immensely grateful to Assembly Members Nguyen and Patterson for their presence and support at the event. Their participation not only enriched the experience but also underscored the importance of community and legislative backing in promoting the welfare of children and youth facing unique challenges. The day was filled with meaningful conversations, photo opportunities, and a shared commitment to making a positive change, highlighting the power of advocacy and the difference it can make in the lives of those we serve.
